Our infrared lamps hit those damp spots with a specific kind of energy that makes water molecules vibrate. It basically shakes the liquid droplets until they turn into vapor. A few things to keep in mind
We set these units up for short, high-intensity bursts. We use quartz halogen elements because they hit peak temperature in seconds. It’s a quick “flash-evaporation” that clears the dampness before you even realize it’s there. But, you’ve got to be careful with the installation. These lamps get hot—really hot. If you cram them into a tight space without any breathing room, you’ll burn out the element. Make sure you leave at least 50mm of clearance around the housing. Your ceiling will thank you, and your heater will actually last.
The catch (and how to fix it)
If you’re wiring this in, just make sure you use a dedicated moisture-rated junction box. Safety first. Also, let’s be real: this isn’t a magic wand. The infrared heat is great for drying the walls, but it doesn’t replace your exhaust fan. Think of it this way: the heater moves the water from the wall back into the air, but the fan is what actually pushes that humid air out of your house. You need both. Use the heater to kill the mold, and the fan to get the steam out the door.
