We built this infrared bathroom heater to be the kind of drop-in fix you can actually relax around—because in a wet space, reliability isn’t optional. It’s mandatory. Its whole point is simple: give you instant, localized warmth, fast, without making your electrical system sweat.
Power, voltage, and the right kind of heat
At the heart of it is a shortwave halogen emitter. It packs a lot of heat into a small footprint, which is exactly what you want in a bathroom. Most setups run on 220V–240V, with common ratings around 275W or 300W, all wrapped into a 300mm tube. That power-to-length ratio is the secret sauce: you get concentrated radiant heat right where you need it, instead of turning the whole ceiling into a radiator. More surface area per watt means quicker warm-up and tighter control over the temperature. But with higher wattage density, you do have to pay a little more attention to how the fixture manages heat and how it’s wired. It’s not complicated—just worth getting right.
Materials that earn their keep
We chose a quartz envelope because it can handle the shock of rapid on/off cycling and delivers infrared efficiently. The tube is sealed and IP-rated waterproof, so it can deal with steam, direct splashes, and the daily humidity rollercoaster of a bathroom without leaking or shorting out. The halogen cycle helps keep the filament stable, which means less of that annoying fade over time. And for the base, we went with an R7s connector because it’s straightforward to wire at line voltage and locks in securely. No adapters. No wiggle room. It’s a simple, field-proven connection that keeps installation quick and solid.
What it feels like in a real bathroom
