
Stop Waiting for Your SACMI Lamps to Warm Up
If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know they move fast. Like, really fast. The last thing you need is to be standing around waiting for your infrared lamps to finally hit the right temperature while your production line sits idle. That lag between flipping the switch and actually hitting full heat is a killer. That’s why we rebuilt our replacement lamps from the ground up. We wanted to cut that wait time down to almost nothing. How we actually do it It mostly comes down to the guts of the lamp. We played around with the tungsten filament diameter and used high-purity quartz to make sure the heat hits instantly. No more slow ramp-ups. No more worrying that your first few preforms are going to be under-heated because the oven wasn’t “ready” yet. They fit right into your OEM slots, but they just get to work faster. The secret is in the coating We use heavy-wall quartz so the tubes don’t bow or warp when things get hot. But here’s the real trick: we add a specific coating to the glass. Instead of wasting energy heating up the air around the machine, this coating pushes the heat directly into the PET resin. It’s a much more efficient way to get the plastic where it needs to be. A few things to keep in mind Installation is a breeze. We use standard connectors, so you can swap these out during a shift change without breaking a sweat. Less downtime, more bottles. But look, there’s a trade-off. Because we’ve packed more heat density into these lamps to get that fast start, they’re a bit more sensitive. If your voltage is jumping all over the place or your cooling fans are choked with dust, you’re going to burn through filaments faster than you’d like. Just keep your power stable and your fans clean. Do that, and you’ll get a rock-solid heat profile across the entire oven.
