We built this oscillating space heater around a shortwave halogen quartz tube. It’s the kind of tool you reach for when you need heat fast—and you need it exactly where you point it.
Technical Deep-Dive
We set these heaters up for 400V, usually at 2500W. That gives you serious heat density without taking up a lot of space. The tube is 300mm long, so the heat stays focused. You get intense warmth right where you want it, without having to run a bigger unit than necessary. And the oscillating motion? It spreads the energy out across a set area, so you don’t get harsh hot spots on the target.
Material & Design
Inside, the quartz envelope is filled with halogen. That helps keep the filament stable and the output consistent over time. On the outside, a reflective coating pushes the energy forward. More usable heat. Less wasted radiation. Connection is straightforward with the R7s connector—two terminals, easy to wire, and built to handle the heat cycling that comes with the job. If you’re swapping out a standard fixture, it’s basically a drop-in replacement.
Application & Benefits
In industrial work, this setup shines when you need to heat fast and cool down fast—think plastic pre-heating and component drying. The oscillation keeps the temperature even across the part, so results feel more repeatable, more predictable. Here’s the trade-off: that 2500W density means you need a power supply rated for it, and you need adequate cooling. If you don’t, the housing and nearby components will run hot. Plan accordingly.
